Membership Information
Applying for Membership
Successful application for Membership in the Canmore Golf & Curling Club requires the payment of an initiation fee, as well as payment of yearly dues. Additionally, there is a mandatory Food & Beverage assessment which is credited to the members' Food & Beverage account.
Applications for membership at the Canmore Golf & Curling Club will adhere to the following guidelines:
- Prospective members must reside in, or own property in the Bow Valley for one (1) full year before they are eligible to apply for membership.
- Application forms for membership are accepted on an individual basis, each prospective member must pay the applicable initiation fee as laid out below.
- Prospective members shall pay a non-refundable deposit of fifty percent (50%) of the current year's initiation fees at the date of application. Payment of the 50% deposit assigns the prospective member a spot on the waiting list.
- Joining members shall pay the "remaining portion" of the initiation fees when their name comes up for full membership status, where the "remaining portion" shall be calculated using the initiation fee in the year of application, less the non-refundable deposit paid at the time the application is received. This is in addition to the yearly dues assessed at time of joining.
- Club policy states that a minimum of 2/3's of our full membership complement will be permanent residents. Accordingly, new members MAY be accepted from the waitlist so as to maintain proportion of permanent residents.
Membership is available only to Permanent Residents and Non-Permanent Resident Property Owners of the Bow Valley.
- A Permanent Resident is defined for all purposes in the bylaws of the club as a person who is living on a permanent day-to-day basis within the Bow Corridor (between Seebe and the East Gates of Banff National Park).
- A Non-Permanent Resident Property Owner is defined for all purposes as a person who owns at least 50% interest in a residence within the Bow Corridor (between Seebe and the East Gates of the Banff National Park) and has occupied the same residence on a seasonal basis for at least twelve (12) consecutive months preceding the date of application. For purposes of determination of ownership interest, spousal holdings will be pooled.
